GORE A&P ASSOCIATION RAM FAIR RULES
1. The sale will be conducted by the Gore Stock Agents’ Association, under the conditions of sale the NZ Stock Agents’ Association operate under, and which are displayed on the rostrum.
2. All sheep shall be offered and sold, subject to the rules of the sale as published in the catalogue.
3. All entries are to be made on the official entry form and must be signed by the Vendor or his Agent, with such signature confirming that all Rules are accepted by the Vendor.
4. Only registered sheep will be accepted for sale.
5. All rams entered for sale must be entered in, or eligible for, registration in a recognized Flock Book.
6. SIL is not mandatory.
7. The Ram Fair Committee reserves the right to refuse any Vendor’s entries not complying with the Rules.
8. The Gore A&P Association does not accept any legal responsibility in the case of wrong description of any Lot but takes every care to prevent errors as far as possible.
9. All rams entered for the sale will be catalogued. Replacements are allowable after entries close.
10. The Ram Fair Committee reserves the right to limit the number of entries if required, prior to the compiling of the catalogue.
11. No refund of fees will be made for any lots withdrawn or passed.
12. The Vendor must determine when making his entry, the order in which his sheep are to be sold. He must also declare the name of the selling agent for each Lot.
13. The sale will be divided into runs at the discretion of the Ram Fair Committee, with rams being sold in Vendors’ runs. Vendors offering two or less rams will be sold in the first run. Vendors offering three or more rams will have their entries divided into two runs, with the greater half (if the numbers are uneven) entered in the first run.
14. All pens to be filled from front of catalogue.
15. All Lots will be offered for sale in the order set out in the catalogue. Purchasers have no option to reject any number in the pens as offered.
16. The selling order of Lots presented shall be determined by the calculated average prices received by each Vendor in each Breed at the Association’s Fair held the previous year, with the rams of the Vendor who secured the highest average price offered first, and thence in descending average order. If any two or more Vendors should have equal average prices, the order of sale shall be decided by ballot. Then the rams of Vendors who did not sell a ram at the Association’s Fair the previous year shall be offered, with the order being decided by ballot.
17. In the event of any Vendor being short in his entry, his pen or pens shall remain unoccupied.
18. In the event of any Vendor not being ready to have his sheep put in their respective order as catalogued, they shall be passed and held over until the end of the respective breed.
19. Thirty seconds will be allowed to obtain the first bid, which shall not be less than $1,000 or the Vendor’s reserve. If there is a reserve, the Auctioneer will advise this prior to bidding commencing. Once the reserve has been reached, he will announce the ram is now on the market. The Auctioneer will nominate all bids to be taken.
20. Any Stud Ram not sold in the ring cannot be purchased outside the ring for less than $1,000. Rams purchased for transfer to be $1,500 to registered and unregistered breeders.
21. All sheep catalogued for sale must be submitted to auction and no private sales will be permitted before being offered.
22. All stock shall bear the catalogue number allotted by the Committee. A number on PVC backing, to be affixed by glue to the middle of their back, just behind their shoulder line.
23. On the fall of the hammer, the Auctioneer must announce the name and buying number of the Purchaser.
24. On the fall of the hammer, the Lot becomes the property of the Purchaser and must not be handled without the Purchaser’s consent. In the event of a Lot being passed, the responsibility for the Lot shall remain with the Vendor.
25. The entry of rams in this sale, carries with it an undertaking by the Vendor that the purchase price (without interest, costs or damages) will be refunded, should the ram prove infertile or incapable of service, except in the case of accident or injury after purchase. Any complaints must be lodged with the Auctioneers within six months of purchase. This undertaking shall not affect the right of the Vendor or Purchaser to make mutually satisfactory arrangements for a sheep to be replaced. All rams will carry a full Vendor’s Guarantee for two calendar months from the date of sale.
26. All entries must be accompanied by a copy of the current Flock Brucellosis Accreditation Certificate and entries cannot be accepted without this Certificate. The certificate must still be current at the date of sale.
27. Any ram which is offered for sale under special conditions, (part-share only, retention of a store of semen, prior sale of semen, sale of semen rights, retention of semen rights, or all of the preceding, substituting embryos for semen) shall have this and the division of the share clearly stated on the entry form and entered in the catalogue. The Vendor will also state the possession factor, number of ewes to be mated by each shareholder and any grazing charges payable and this information, along with that printed in the catalogue and intended by the Vendor, shall be displayed on the pen and announced by the Auctioneers when the ram enters the ring.
28. Suffolk rams must have a minimum of 88% Suffolk parentage.
