Our History
Currently in its 140th year, the Gore A&P Association began in 1882 with the first Show held in December of that year, on Thomas Green’s land in southern Gore.Entries totalled 268, comprising of 81 horses, 38 cattle, 21 sheep and 128 dairy produce exhibits. Approximately 1500 people attended.
At the 1883 annual meeting, members discussed buying land to give the Association a permanent home. However, it was not until 1891 that the present site was purchased and the first Show on the new grounds was held in 1892.
The Show held in 1899 was a two day show and proved to be a great success, attracting more than 5000 people.
The Grandstand was built in 1906 for 770 and seated 650 people.
